Look n Lead, offered each spring, is an exciting one-of-a-kind leadership conference specifically for 7th and 8th-grade girls who have an interest in learning how to become authentic, bold servant leaders. Since you must first learn to lead yourself before you can lead others, the focus of this day is on making sure you know who you are and what you stand for.

Any student who is currently in the 7th or 8th grade is invited to be part of the conference. We are capping the enrollment at 80 students to maintain an informal experience. We are interested in those students who want to begin a life of leadership.

Q: What is “Look ‘N Lead”?
A: This is an exciting one-of-a-kind conference specifically for 7th and 8th-grade girls who have an interest in learning how to become leaders. Q: Who should attend?

Q: How can I register?

A: You can register for Look 'N Lead by clicking on the "Register Here" button above. All registration must be done online .  There will be no payment at the door, so please sign up early and reserve your place at the conference.

Q: What is the agenda for the day?
A: The conference will begin at 10:00am. Students will be checked in and assigned to groups and involved in an initial activity to get to know each other. The bulk of the day will involve breakout sessions and activities building on our theme – look inward, to lead outward. 

Q: I went to Look ‘N Lead last year – is this year different?
A: The agenda is totally different and fresh. Yes, please join again us to continue your leadership journey. 

Q: Who teaches the sessions?
A: Look ‘N Lead is produced by Incarnate Word Academy’s unique Young Leaders Program. The upperclassmen in the program will serve as conference counselors and session facilitators. Leaders from the Houston business community will also assist. We hope you are inspired by the conference and want to be a counselor in the future. 

Q: What is the fee?
A: The fee is $40. All registration must be done online.  There will be no payment at the door, so please sign up early and reserve your place at the conference. The fee includes lunch and a t-shirt in addition to covering the costs to produce the event.

Q: Will lunch be offered?
A: Yes, the conference fee includes lunch. However, if you have special dietary needs you may wish to bring your own meal. 

Q: Where is the conference?
A: The conference will be at the Incarnate Word Academy campus. You may drop off students on Jackson Street between Texas and Capitol. We will greet you from the street and manage the drop off at 10:00a and pickup at 4:00pm. 

Q: Why is IWA putting on a Leadership Conference?
A: IWA is totally committed to empowering young women to lead and serve. Our 4-year leadership program, the Young Leaders Program, is developing hundreds of young women on a path a life of leadership. The leadership skills learned are making a difference in the lives of our students. Given the pressures and media exposure that influences young women today, there is no reason why these skills should not be introduced to early teenagers. 

Q: What should I wear and bring?
A: We ask that you wear comfortable and appropriate attire; jeans and a t-shirt would be fine. We will provide everything you need for the day – just bring a great attitude and a smile.
