Every year, Falcon Theater puts on two extracurricular Mainstage productions. We perform a play in the fall and a musical in the spring. Students learn responsibility and the interdependence of all members of the production. They rely on each other not only to learn lines and blocking but also to run the sound board and the lighting, to manage set changes backstage, and to help each other when something goes wrong. In this way, theater teaches creativity not only as self-expression but as resourcefulness as well.
During production, the show rehearses 4 days during the school week with additional rehearsal or set build on Saturday. Students are only called when needed for the scenes scheduled for that day.
Responsibilities and activities
Students put on two Mainstage Shows per academic year, a Fall Play and a Spring Musical. Students attend rehearsals and build days. Students perform the roles in which they are cast or the jobs they volunteer to complete. Students are responsible during Tech Week. In addition to Mainstage shows, students can also work their way toward a student-directed show in either December or May. The Thespian Society competes at the Texas Thespian Festival every December.
Audition or attendance at a preliminary tech meeting. Audition and meeting open to all students.
Actors contribute $100 to the budget of the show
