The IWA Chess Club is designed for young women who are interested in learning the game of chess. Experienced players are also welcomed in the club that meets on a monthly basis. In a relaxed and congenial atmosphere the boards are set up, the girls are paired, and the the games begin. Chess is a game that offers great personal satisfaction and opportunities to test your emerging skills with other players who are also learning the game, and as any chess aficionado will tell you, you are always learning! You'll find the gallant knights, the stolid kings, the reckless queens and the poor and oft-sacrificed pawns dancing across red and black squares in room 202, sponsored by Mr. Mooneyham who is himself a pawn in the game of life.
Once a month 3:30-4:30
Students will learn and appreciate the game of chess, and thusly appreciate its nuances while competing with peers in a relaxed environment.
