In the Business of Giving Back

Academics
Academics
Incarnate Word Academy provides young women with a college preparatory education that engages and challenges them to succeed in all endeavors. With an average class size of 16 and an 11:1 student to teacher ratio, IWA is committed to personal attention and helping each student thrive. IWA’s college preparatory curriculum meets the TEA’s recommended program, but extends to allow students to expand upon their strengths and interests with diverse academic electives such as Contemporary US Women’s History, Leading with Service and Leading with Personal Finance.
Values
Values
The IWA Young Leaders Program is an innovative 4-year character and leadership development program that provides each student the unique opportunity to develop in-demand leadership skills built upon a foundation of strong personal character. IWA is one of the only high schools in the country to combine collegiate level curriculum and experiential opportunities in order to ensure that our graduates are prepared to take on leadership roles in college and life. The leadership curriculum is packaged as the Young Leaders Concentration - a series of 4 courses available to those students who desire an in-depth exposure to the leadership discipline. These courses leverage nationally recognized materials from institution such as Santa Clara University and IWA’s partnership with The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Graduating from IWA with a concentration in Leadership makes our students stand out and prepared to significantly impact their communities.
Spirituality
Spirituality
Our mission is to foster student growth in the values of the Gospel. Students are encouraged to develop a personal relationship with Christ, the Incarnate Word, and are given opportunities to grow in their faith through religious studies, retreats, participation in the Liturgy, service projects and prayer services.
IWA has met or exceeded all the expectations we had for our daughter’s high school experience. We give back because we want to be the leaders we are asking our daughter to be.

On my IWA tour, one student looked at me out in the hallway. She smiled, waved, and simply said, "You need to come to IWA! We love it here.” IWA girls want everyone to experience the same spirit, love, and pride for our school.

The Young Leaders Program is dedicated to empowering young women, even those who feel like they are not “leader material.” I can say from experience that being a part of YLP has encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone in ways I hadn’t imagined.

I am thrilled to see the girls excelling in so many different areas. It really makes me stop and think of the important role that IWA plays in helping them to grow into the whole persons God wants them to be.
