IWA Day with the Rockets!
A letter from Clutch, the Rockets Mascot:
To the IWA Community,
A few thousand feet, and Discovery Green, separate the Houston Rockets from IWA. As downtown neighbors, we want to get to know you better. I am here to let you all know that March 3, 2010 will be a special day for the students and families of IWA and the Houston Rockets.
The students of IWA are invited to spend the afternoon at the Toyota Center and meet with many of the managers who run the arena and the Houston Rockets. All will have a chance to hear how their prior education is used every day to sell tickets, produce events, manage and sell merchandise, communicate to the public and run the basketball operations. You will get a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend time with the General Manager of the Rockets, Mr. Daryl Morey. Mr. Morey has degrees from MIT and Northwestern University and is widely known for his innovative use of mathematics and statistics in evaluating which players the Rockets trade, draft and keep on their roster.
But that's not all. Later in the afternoon a number of deserving students will get an opportunity to come onto the court and shoot a free throw in front of their cheering classmates. Then we'll take you on a behind-the-scenes tour of the Toyota Center arena - a chance to see areas normally protected from the general public.
Once you leave the Toyota Center and return to school, your day is just beginning. The Dads' Club of IWA invites you to meet up with your families for an IWA Spring BBQ. The grand finale will follow dinner - "Incarnate Word Academy night at Toyota Center," where you, your classmates and your families are invited to purchase deeply discounted tickets for the Rockets game. And the best part, you can all sit together as a community and cheer on the Rockets.

** Thanks Clutch! There will be ticket information coming to your homes in December in the envelope that contains your semester report card. As an added incentive, the first five students who purchase tickets and the three students who sell the most tickets to their families will be assured a spot on the court to shoot a free throw.
